Wyoming
I see I mistyped the number there, I meant 6812 not 6912. You knew what I meant anyway.

I went ahead and stripped the rest of the field I was in today, after all the wind it was getting really dry on top. Still wet underneath, kinda coming up cloddy but last year the planter unit gauge wheels took care of that so hopefully it will be ok. Just wanting to get something done so that field can warm up.

It's a ME2, 7300. A 7000 isn't the same shank according to the parts program, or I know where to find some of those here. We thought about cutting the stud part out of those and welding it into our unit, but I found the part I need for a bit less than JD list price so hopefully it will be here in a couple days. Thanks though. What had happened was when I was doing some custom corn planting last year in some nasty rocky sand I broke a few disk bearing cups right off the disks. That one ran a few passes before I noticed I guess. The disk cut over halfway through the stud. I replaced the disk with another one I had and kinda forgot about it until we had it off this spring. That custom stuff was really hard on my planter, most bearings I have ever changed in a season. Hoping I get it better prepared for this year.

Soil temp in the hay strips was 46 but the corn strips next to them were only 40. The snow had sat on the half of the pivot with corn all winter though, pretty matted down and wetter. That's partly why I wanted to get it done so the corn ground would warm up. Whole field will be beets, don't want the corn side coming up way slower.

We used to bed everything, still do the flood ground sometimes, but we had so many beet crops blow out in the spring that way. That's why we like the strip till leaving cover between the rows, our ground just blows too bad in the spring without something there.
