Lander, WY | If you flew out straight east you flew over some areas that do have drainages (ditches, creeks...whatever you call them) that flow some water once in a while (like every 10 years). Used to be a lot more running water in the spring 100 years ago I guess, I've heard stories of the South Platte at Sterling being 2 miles wide in the spring, it's a few channels now, widest is maybe 100 yards...
If you are talking in the mountains, yes, those reservoirs fill up when the snow starts to melt, which is starting to come on now.
Next time you are out, try to add a day. I'm sure someone will be able to take you on a tour at least. Going east out of Denver is way different than going west out of Denver. | |
