SW Saskatchewan
Before the days of metrification, that was the slogan of the American Malt Institute.

Think it had something to do with "price" visibility.

Back in those days, Barley was a non-program crop and some big farms on the Crow reservation grew tens of thousands of acres of barley because they had no history for program crops.

Was even talk of a "Barley Sugar" plant in Montana because Montana barley was the lowest cost carbohydrate at the time.

Believe it was in the Kennedy years the US farm program was revised.

Joe and Narciss from Chester came to Canada to escape farm program controls, became big time wheat board supporters.
