Subject: Fortunately for me, it is not a universal truth.

Little River, TX
Here in our soil, with our climate, and our management style (alloepathy to new alfalfa seedlings ) does not apply.

Here alfalfa in summer dormancy will produce seed. This seed will germinate resulting in a volunteer stand of seedling alfalfa in an older stand of alfalfa.

Not saying anyone is lying, just that their truth is their regional truth not everyone's regional truth. When making statement about alfalfa autotoxicity our academic friends need to state the conditions where they see this phenomena.
To become a scientific truth every enquiring person should be able to reproduce the stated findings. As I have found the allopathic reaction does not apply here. Therefore it is not a universal truth.

Here being in the Texas Blacklands, with it's calcareous soil, and unusually high CEC Clay soil. Maybe with irrigation it might apply, but with irrigation there would not be a summer dormant seed crop.
