| It seems that the USDA is confusing some by using bushels as a measure instead of tons, pounds, or cwt. When they say USA farmers produced a 12 billion bushel crop, what they really mean is that we produced 672 billion pounds, or 6.72 billion cwt., or 336 million US tons, or 300 million Metric tons. They are not referring to volume, only weight. I do need to know the test weight of my own corn so I can calculate how much storage space I will need, and how many pounds of corn are in a bin, and what my test weight discount will be. BTW, in some western states, corn is bought and sold by the ton. | |
