That is what farming strip mined ground is all about.  Why are you scraping 10' of top soil of your soil?  It's ruined forever now.

It's hardly ruined.  I needed fill dirt for building elevated building foundations and elevated pads for hay piles and this is my supply of the poorest soil I farm and makes excellent fill material.  Ive scraped the top 5 or 6 inches off to the side, removed the knob to level grade, and each load of clay subsoil I haul out, I have hauled a load of feedlot manure back in for this field.  (it's a 75 mile round trip and I have 70% covered)

Eventually this former hilly 1 acre spot will be level, have the topsoil pushed back, 35 tons of manure spread on it, planted back to alfalfa, and will be one of the highest yielding dryland spots on the farm.  I'll post the pictures when it happens just for you eddie.  :>)  but not until I get all the fill dirt and manure hauled.



Has the field been restored yet?
