nw mb | Going to try organic wheat (AC Domain) this year, looking at about 55 acres. The land was summer fallowed last year, before that was alfalfa for 5 -7 years.
What I am looking for help with is a weed control strategy and seeding rate? I have booked enough to seed 3 bushels per acres, but not sure I want to go that high. I have a rod weeder and all the necessary tillage equipment (planting will be done with a double disc drill). Its fairly light (sandy loam) land so it drys decent so I should be able to get on it fairly early. Talking to a few older guys around here, they suggested to prep the seed bed, wait for weed growth then seed, wait till wheat comes up and rod weed like mad...?
