Subject: In light of ethanol plants going bellyup---how often do you get paid?

Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

How does that work?  Any changes from, say, a year ago?

Seems that before a farmer would deliver a pile of corn, and then wait for huge check.

When the facility went bellyup, it seemed/sounded as if the farmer got stiffed.

Is that still the situation, or has there been Iowa elevator program coverage on the deliveries?

For example, I haven't delivered to Cargill, Eddyville, IA for years, but it used to be that Cargill had checks out within two days of a load's delivery-----------so even if Cargill tubed it, a farmer would have much less exposure.

Just interested in whether or not something had been done to protect farmers on their contracts with ethanol plants.
