I have a simple (well kinda simple) file holder that clamps on the bar. It holds the file to preset angle to match the chain teeth. I give each tooth a few swipes each day and they cut good for hours or until the first time the bar touches the ground.

The file doesn't really sharpen them, it just knocks off the burr. After so many filings they have to be ground in a regular motorized grinder or replaced.
