Massachusetts | Organic rent equals conventional rent here, too.
Having said that, much of the land that is organic is marginal, such as small irregular fields, sandy, muddy, etc. that larger conventional farms don't want to bother with. Rent on those are often cheaper anyway. Few landlords here give multi year leases, so it is difficult for organic farmers to get in on the real good land, what with the three year deal and all. | |
