Subject: Ripping with no till ripper

Western Iowa

I was wondering does anyone do a traffic specific tillage with a no till ripper like the case 2500 eco till or the brillion zone builder? By traffic specific, I mean just running the ripper where the combine and gain cart paths are. We try to keep the grain cart on the combine tracks when unloading on the go so I was wondering it a guy could just rip the rows with the most traffic. This could mean skipping rows or removing a shank on the ripper so less fuel is used. Right now I am ripping a 160 that only pulls hard on certain rows and areas of the field. It seems like a waste of time and fuel to rip down rows with no compaction. I no till my soybeans and have a case 2500 eco till I rip down the rows with. It leaves the ground cracked and fluffed up but smooth enough to plant in the spring.

What do you guys think?
