Yorktown, TX | I cut it with a disc mower (mounted without a conditioner), and wait about 1-2 days during the summer and 3-4 days during the fall before raking it and baling it in the same day. I don't windrow it because the humidity here would ruin it if you left it overnight. I'm cutting coastal hay (probably the difference). That is how it is done here. How do you do it? If we rake our hay and leave it overnight, the windrow will be matted to the ground in the morning. We currently rake with wheel rakes and bale directly behind them, but with two tractors. I want to just rake and bale in one pass to eliminate the need for the other tractor. | |
