Galahad, Alberta | My brother was able to straight cut a 10 acre plot of Juncea, which is a cross of mustard and canola, before the clouds moved in and misted again. Some guys are going on canola and running it through the dryer. The canola is so tough that you can't test it with a motomco, my portable mini gac says 16 to 20. If you squeeze a handfull, you can feel the moisture on your hand. I don't have a dryer, so I have to wait till it gets down to 12.5, and then aerate it. Standing wheat is testing around 24, standing barley is about 20. I won't even guess at what my brother's barley swaths are at. We'll be lucky to get it this fall. More flurries, rain and snow later this week. I came home, bucked and split some firewood, and now I'm going to lite a fire, have a beer, and watch the hockey game. What else can you do.
