| We had three different fields in which we planted side by side comparisons of RR2 3.4 beans against RR1 3.2 and 3.4 beans. Campbell/Stewart Seeds.
Trial 1: RR1 won by 1.3 bu
Trial 2: RR2 won by 1.7 bu
Trial 3: RR2 won by .7 bu (This one should be called a dead heat I think)
The test strips all yielded in the high fifties or so. We were very dry until third week of July and from then out had pretty nice weather.
In my observation, it seems that the RR2 beans like good soil and low stress (don't we all!) but don't hold up as well as more hardy RR1 varieties on poorer soils or stress.
Looks like a toss up to me. | |
