NEMO | One of my fondest chilhood memories was picking up walnuts with my mother and my younger brother. We didn't have a corn sheller, just dumped them on the driveway and picked up the ones that became hulled from driving over them. Put them in 5 gal buckets, then later cracked them open with a hammer and put in another bucket. Always had a cake pan full of cracked ones setting on the kitchen counter to sift through for a snack. Froze alot of them. Great in brownies, ice cream, bannana nut bread, etc. I'm luck enough to have some walnut trees on my little spread. | |
