outside in. As it does, it seems to push the milk toward the cob as if the cob "soaks up" the milk. When the milk line is about 95% down toward the cob, you can take your finger nail and rake off the end where it attaches to the cob and be able to see what is called the black layer, which is full maturity but will still test in the 30% moisture range. Hope this makes it clear as mud!!
