Government intervention seems to damper extreme moves in most markets. Unless you see a sizable change in representation, fiscal policy, world wide war or an extreme global natural disaster I think we're insulated to no more than 10% swings on the macro scale.
There is lots of very rich people very happy with the status quo - and they will work very hard to maintain that.
