Nor-C-Ore-Drylander - 1/30/2024 16:36 Not only Navigation. Those dams generate almost 4000 MW of cheap, clean, reliable and CONSISTANT power. 24/7/365. You cannot beat the reliability of Hydro power. That is 28,000 acres of Solar...When the sun is shining. So I assume you would need another 28,000 acres of solar to charge 4000 MW of battery capacity. But once again, that won't hold up in the winters or under the cloudy/foggy conditions that we have had in the inland Northwest the last few weeks. Bad deal all the way around if the deal gets done and the dams are removed.

The solar panels at my location are estimated produce about 17% of nameplate capacity.  So it would take more like 165,000 acres of solar panels to replace this one dam.
