My dad was born in 1912 and he talked about civet cats as being spotted skunks. Not sure when they died out in my area but it was long ago. 40 years ago the neighbor killed an armadillo in her chicken house. That was kind of a rare deal. Now we have a pasture 50 miles to the SW of us that has them in it. They really go when startled.
