South eastern South Dakota | I have pulled out several trees. Hook a chain onto the top up the 5 feet and pull. Possibly have someone else drive, where the ground wiggles a little is a root. Dig where the wiggle is, then chop that root. Repeat, you may have to re-position tractor in a few different directions, watch for wiggle then dig and chop. Might not work if it is a huge tree. Remember if you cut it off flush to the ground you cannot plant there.
