upstate ny | Hey Don, we just demoed a kuhn plow a few weeks ago. prototype model, not in production yet. kuhn has it out in the field to find weaknesses, and finding them they are. it was an on-land 6 bottom, variable width plow, and it was just over 40 ft long! the farm that got it before us snapped the front axle unloading it from the truck. they finished plowing before it was fixed. as soon as it was fixed we hooked on it and made 5 round trips and snapped the piece that the cylinder mounts to to raise the front wheel. i know thats not enough plowing to make a fair judgement, but i wasnt impressed with how it was rolling dirt(corn last year, chopped off). our kvernlands do the nicest job of any plow ive ever seen, in any condition. a couple nice things about the kuhn were that it had a self-contained hydraulic reset for the bottoms, and a closed circuit automatic steering system. its main downfalls were that it was far too complex, and of course WAY too long. it took a decent sized headland to maneuver that land-yacth! | |
