Subject: RE: co-op board participation question

Sac & Story county IA
I have been in about all the chairs. I was asked. Young and dumb, I said I would. I have sat with membership list and did the calling. A lot of people that would be good thinkers don't want anything to do with it. Guys that asked to be directors, I took almost as a compliment that the organization was doing things fairly right for them to want to be a part of it. I was always opposed to someone running unopposed. On the other hand, I was asking a customer to go out of the meeting not winning.

It is a hard job done correctly. Staring off into the dim mist that is the future, 5 - 10 years out. There are plenty boards that talk about the weather and the lamb crop and have some cookies and coffee and go home. Sort of a reward for a long, successful career in farming. Those coops generally got the word from the lender that they were going to merge with___________.
