Kettle Moraine, WI
If you want to up your game, learn how to make bechamel sauce. (And not just for casserole but wide variety of uses) Easy with a little practice. Replace many soups and bases. Creamy soups of many vegetables, tomato soup, gravy variation, pudding is not much different process, cheese sauce for real Mac and cheese, and other ingredients.

Flavor is so much better than any canned soup. Heat resistant spatula makes it easy stirring. I don't preheat the milk and it just takes longer.

Here is a 2 minute video. It is easy to learn and you will quickly understand way the French chefs call it of of the mother sauces.
