Subject: RE: What are you paying for data management?

East Central, Nebraska
i guess i was being more hypothetical when asking about agronomy background, i wasn't looking for your resume but hopefully you see my point. i believe there is definitely a place for what your wanting to do but more often than not i would see farmers wanting to see an agronomic background to help them feel all warm and fuzzy about the service they are paying for. i see tremendous value in what your end goals are wanting to do the data management and desktop agronomy but have an agronomist on your team to look to for a second opinion.

i do the majority of my work on my own but have tried many services in my area to help reassure myself of decisions i make. i cant even really give you a straight answer on what they are charging because i manage my own data and pull theirs into my system. every time i have dealt with this it was a per acre amount but that cost was mostly to do the additional services provided in the package like the physical soil sampling and such.

i would recommend maybe having a discussion with a fellow agtalker named 'gpsdude'. i think he can not only lead you in the right direction but possibly help get it off the ground with the software he supports. just an idea, but that is a guy that i know could likely answer what your wanting to know.
