I think different rices taste different. I like minute rice as cereal with sugar and milk, raisins are good in it too. I put green pepper steak on a bed of minute rice. I like it with chow mein. Parboiled rice for things like chicken rice soup. Jasmine has a different taste and texture. Never used a rice cooker. I have heard a pan with a tight fitting lid that keeps the moisture in is best and not open the pan until done cooking for long cooking rice. I just use a copper bottom Revere ware pot and lid....James.
