Where is the nitrogen now? Is it in the plant or in the soil somewhere? How long will it take for what is in the plant to become available for following crop? I know that drought damaged corn will rot a lot faster than normal. In 2011 we had very little subsoil moisture, a lot of corn did not tassel out, what did tassel out made 4 to 15. We had on around 120 lb N. Planted wheat with 25 lb 18-46-0. We applied 10 gal of 28% on two fields, rest got none. Wheat after corn averaged 60. Wheat that got 28% was in the middle yield wise. Wheat after soybeans got 30 lb of 18-46-0 at planted and 115 lb of urea during winter. This wheat averaged 48. In 2012 it was wet in May (like it was this year here) nitrogen for corn was already on before this. Stopped raining that year June twenty something. Corn averaged about 40. Planted wheat with 30 to 50 lb 18-46-0, and applied 120 lbs urea in winter. Wheat behind corn averaged 65. The poorest made 45 behind 80 bushel corn The best wheat made 79 behind 22 bushel corn. Wheat behind soybean made 64 with same fertilizer. Wheat behind milo made 51 30 lbs of drilled rye after 2012 corn looked like it had enough nitrogen.
