Subject: RE: Crop Rotation Options After Drought Corn

South Central Illinois

Following the drought of 2012,
Some replaced one disaster with another disaster,
In a rush to get past the drought of 2012,
Hurry up and plant Wheat on those fields,
They were in two weeks and more before the fly date,
Plenty of nitrogen carryover,
The wheat got too much growth in the fall,
The next spring it fell over flat due to the abundance of nitrogen.
If you decide to go with Wheat,
Stick with the fly date,
Properly manage nitrogen supply,
Consider the use of palisade in the spring to limit growth and enhance the standability.
