East Central Ia | I think the dry conditions have been creeping north and east.
I am about 10 miles east of IC and was surprised to see brown grass starting show up in the IC area last Sat when we took the kids to Kent park a few miles west of IC.
I would say we have been in a very good spot for Iowa and we are still mowing our yards here.
Have been running around doing some yield checks for our south east Iowa sales group the last few days and the general consensus from my teammates seems to be slightly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong we have a good crop brewing and it is very hard to tell yields at this point. But so far we are finding similar results to last year. We had a dry finish here last year which definitely took the top off.
I would have said we were in store for a huge crop prior to this last week’s scouting. Now I am a little more skeptical and am leaning towards slightly above APH, not a record. Time will tell. | |
