now these are not energy efficient, should I update?

Check its current draw first, either with a ammeter or a watts-meter device.

We had a 40-year-old freezer that used significantly less kilowatt/hours to run compared to it's newer counterparts. That was determined by checking it and several others side-by-side on a watts meter. It eventually failed due to door gasket and latch problems, but there was no reason to upgrade it based on age or presumed-inefficiency.

I was just joking about updating, new appliances are not energy efficient if you have to replace them every 10 years.
