Example, 30 years ago a certain company P was talking the importance of the farmer sales rep but seemed to be hiring a number of Store front or farmers who would focus on sales and farm (or had the help do the farming). Soon it was bigger territories and heavy investment in facilities on the farm if still a farmer.
So!!! Is there really a guarantee any company won't go direct in the relatively near future? 25 years ago large accounts were getting personal treatment from majors through DSM or account managers. You might continue being the local contact with some commission, but don't bet that you will continue to be that important in the future.
