| I have no seed industry experience. But life experience with all matters like this it comes down to two realities:
- You really don't want to do it any more with that company. You know that the things that bother you can't be fixed, and you just have to move on. You are guilting yourself into sticking with them because of loyalty and every hard decision is made easiest by doing nothing (staying the same) so it is harder to make the decision to leave.
or
- You actually do want to stay. But you have problems with the direction of said company. If this is the case you need to be open to them and let them answer to it. Negotiate the results you want.
And as far as loyalty goes, a seed dealer I know (used to be a fairly successful dealer at that) only got a letter in the mail to announce that the brand was getting discontinued and he would no longer have access to the seed. After it was in every farm magazine and everyone else knew about it. A very large company that was discontinuing this particular brand of seed but had many other brands. No phone call, no in person visit, no offer to join another of the company's brands. Not even a cheesy gold watch or some other token of appreciation. As with most things in life that involve large companies the loyalty only goes one way so be careful. | |
