We are putting tin on our house over asphalt shingles and on the garage over wood shingles. The wood boards under each are in good shape. Is it OK to just put down tar paper and go over the top of this or should we put down 2 x 4's first? Maybe it would let air circulate a little better, just a thought. Both roofs are steep pitched.
