Central MN | If you use a generic power supply, be sure to check the output voltage. I rigged one up for bench testing that had been laying in the shop for years, always assumed it was 12-14 volts. Turns out it's over 16v, and 20/20 displays are rated for up to 15.
I've bench tested using a battery before, and chased my tail trying to understand why a GPS receiver would work fine, then not be recognized the next time. Turned out the battery was worn down where the display was working fine, but too low of voltage for the receiver. Every device has its own limits.
Be sure you know your specs when testing.
