Subject: RE: planting in stripper header stubble

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Some folks like our Dawn 2003 Narrow Row combo when planting into stripper head harvested wheat, even on 30" centers.

This system has a cutting/ripple coulter but it is 2" to the side of the row. No hairpinning. Off of the back edge of the coulter it uses a single, usually 12.75 diameter Trashwheel. The coulter then cuts the wheat straw and the single wheel clears maybe a 4" wide path.

Some folks run a std rubber closing wheel on the coulter side and a Curvetine on the undisturbed side of the seed and this makes a good system for planting into stripper head harvested wheat.

We have also strip tilled into stripper wheat stubble. I've posted a couple pictures previously.
