Subject: Re: planting in stripper header stubble

We planted in some stripper header cut stuff for the first time this year with our JD 1770 planter. We have the old style JD single disk fertilizer openers (not the new ones that are more compact like on the 1770 NT but they work fine too or possibly better from what I hear) and a single unit mounted coulter. We didn't have any problems.

If you want to talk to someone who has had a lot of experience planting into stripper header cut wheat with John Deere planters and who lives close to you, email me and I can get you contact information for some people north of Atwood that do a lot of that every year. They always seem more than willing to share their experiences with anyone who is interested.
