Thank you all for the comments! I really appreciate them!

I'm going to have to educate myself on 8-71s . I never thought that would happen, because I was never a fan at all. When I started in trucks in '74, there were a lot of them out there. Some folks liked them. But, my theory is that some people liked Hitler, too!

One local mechanic had mentioned the governor, but it didn't seem consistent enough, and, it involves some major work. Another did mention the air box and from the help from you fellows, that's where I'll start.

All I wanted was a cheap, older truck to haul corn and beans to a town 35 miles away from my small farm. When I consider that I may only put 200 or 300 miles a year on it, I can probably get by with the air box check.
