n.c.iowa | On the left side (wobble box side) take off the end shield, there will be a large coil spring, you'll need a 3/4"end wrench and a 3/4" socket and rachet(can be all done with a end wrench or a gear wrench ) there'll be a long bolt going into the top of the spring, there is a jam but where it goes into the casting at the top of the spring, loosen that jam but.
Then turn the bolt counterclockwise to take tension off of that spring, I kinda forget but should expose about 1-1/2" of that tension bolt, anyway with the head about 6-8" off the ground the tension should be set so that it holds the cutter bar there about a 1" off it's bottom stop.
For the right side, behind the head on the bottom of the sheet you'll see a weldment that has a couple of 1/2" bolts.
That is the holder/ adjuster for the spring for the cutter bars, the bolts go through a sliding bar. First thing would be to lubricate those bolts where they go through the sliding bar with some penetrating oil, then turn the bolts clockwise, this will move the sliding bar back, relieving tension on the spring.
The cutterbar should just rest on it's stops here.
The next springs over on each side maybe need to loosened as well for sometimes they are adjusted to help carry the load on the ends.
