Fruita CO | One time when I was a kid, my uncle bought probably 200, maybe more, I know there was a butt-load of them, chicks in the spring & raised them in the tractor shed. They must have attracted every skunk within 100 miles, because we trapped & shot skunks all summer around the chicken house...lost quite a few, but there was still a bunch to butcher that fall. I was lucky to be in school & missed most of that detail...Mom & grandma were probably pretty tired of chickens..
Grandma always kept enough hens for eggs, but that was the only year we were in the business big time. | |
