1964 is talked about around here from time to time. Corn crop was done by the 4th of July. Some guys chopped a lot for silage and bought cattle to fatten. Problem was there was so little energy in it that the steers couldn’t eat enough to gain on top of what it took just to keep them alive the following winter.
