Western Ky. | The thing about 2012 versus 1988 was the heat here in Ky. We had one day when we hit 112. we had 9 days in a row of over 100. The real kicker was that there was very little cooldown at night (the real reason yields were so low here). Our corn crop just couldn't catch a break. That said, we made anywhere from 59 bpa to 192 bpa in one creek bottom. The average was 78 bpa hauled out of the field at 14 moisture and an $8.30 per bushel average in mid August. All in all 2012 did not end up being that bad for us. We have had much worse years. |
