I agree on avoiding the air system for above reasons mentioned. If we were starting from scratch I’d put in a small leg behind the dryer instead of air. A 10hp motor on a leg can move way more grain than a 40hp air system.

We’ve cleaned up many piles over the years from the elbow that wears out in an air system that wears thru 15 minutes after you quit for the night.


You are likely still being generous to the air system. Info I just looked up rated a 40 hp air system at 1800 bph. Leg @ 1800 bph required 5 hp to lift 80'. So yes, a 10 hp motor on a leg would move way more grain than a 40 hp air system.
