Subject: RE: 7088 vs 9760-9770?

North East Kansas
We didn’t have a chance to try our 7088 vs a 9770, but we did try our 2577 with a small hp bump, and a 974 Draper vs a 9670 and 30’ Deere flex head. My Dad and I kind of had a competition. He was in the 2577, and I was in the 9670. We went full power side by side down some long rows, and he just barely won with the 2577. My Dad tried the 9670 for about 30 minutes and wanted the 2577 back since it’s so much quieter. It was very noticeable how much quieter the case was. When we upgraded to the 7088, it was a big hp upgrade. It is a very reliable machine. I have no idea how the green one compares. It probably depends on what height of soybeans you grow. We had the 7088 with a 35’ fd75, and it would cut as fast as you want in ripe and shorter soybeans, but it comes to a crawl in huge green stem soybeans. The 9 liter Cummins in the 7088 will lug great, also. The 7088 is the best combine we have ever owned at this point. We have high yielding crops, and the 7088 never needed much work at all after 1400 separator hours.
This is why I get confused when people recommend the flagships, and then you will find some of these same people replacing rotor cones at 600 hours in other threads. Our cone after 1400 hours still looked great. That’s also why when we traded up we went with a 7150. We love the design, and have no need for more capacity.
