Southern MN | Truth is manufacturing is coming back. China took their 1 child policy too far and have a rapidly aging population and their wages are not really cheap anymore. Covid has really hit home with some companies that out sourcing things from all over the world probably isn’t in their best interest. The shale revolution has made the US the low cost producer as far as energy costs. The extra nat gas should provide flat electrical costs for several generations, which is one of the largest costs to manufacturing. There are countries that could replace China with cheap labor, but historically these countries have been so screwed up, and now add lessons being learned from Covid, that the odds are not in their favor. The pieces are in place for the US to have a resurgence, the biggest threat is if our politicians getting in the way of our advantages which is a very real possibility. | |
