Subject: RE: Corn row width

NW Central Iowa (Fort Dodge)
Its a 1240, with big floater tires. Very heavy planter. It is always in the ground to spread the weight out. for example I run out of seed and need to drive to get to seed source i will leave planter down and just drive.

Plant with a MT755E ( CAT track) I really can not find much difference in the track rows. I do turn of the tram line rows for a fungicide pass if it is coc or if i know the particular number has a high fung response

I spray a pre and do not spray another herbicide. I do go around the entire field with a grass and weed killer to try and stop the fence rows from getting out of control. This has worked well until this year and this dang dry weather, 8" of rain all growing season 4" coming in may. the headland where weedy, but i think it was do to the edge effect and dusty gravel roads.... the plants didn't get as tall and where not very healthy. With 8" of rain all of the non wind damaged corn went over 200. I don't know how it can yield 200 with very little rain.
