Subject: RE: Corn row width

Iowa - Floyd County
We went to 22" from 36" over 10 years ago now, has worked out well for us. The more variable your soil the more narrow rows pay off in my experience. Biggest negative is having the oddball equipment and trying to find what you need on the used market, I want a "new" planter but can't find exactly what I'm looking for in a 22" configuration. Not being able to have any custom in season work done unless it's with a plane/helicopter has it's drawbacks. l'm sure narrow row stuff is easier to find in your area so that may not be as big of an issue. I'm not looking at switching back to 30".
