my 2 cents....because pre key prime, air locking the engine was a major concern, especially if some yahoo (i like to look in the mirror and see myself) forgot that truck/tractor wasn't primed before someone jumped in the seat and tried to start the engine.
Or the fuel shutoff was forgotten to be turned back on
+2...been there, done that, thankfully not to my detriment
