ECIL | We still have neighbors that stop by and talk when we're out working on equipment. I enjoy the visits, it is a way that people stay connected. When we converse with others around us, as imperfect as we all may be, it reminds us that they also are humans that are experiencing the ups and downs that are part of this life, we don't just think of them as the guy down the road bidding up farm ground or the guy whose farming practices look so ignorant that he's definitely not as smart as me or that guy doesn't see politically as I do so he must be a real idiot.
Sadly, technology (social media, texting, etc.) has caused us to dehumanize our closest neighbors. | |
