For my first time ever seeing any strip tilling equipment:

To me it looked like the knife setups work well for setting up a strip in fall, even in dry condtions when our type of soil fractures into large lumps.

In spring, the disk setup looks like it would make a nice crumbly soil in the damper, stickier soils we have in spring.
