Aberdeen MS | I just had some DAWN stickers, the bar is my design. The middle 8' of the bar is double stacked bar. 7 X 7 for the main bar..... with 6 X 6 for the uprights and top bar. Uprights are inbetween the U bolts of the middle 4 units. The top link this way is pulling/holding 8' of bar rather than just the center point of the bar. It also eliminates any "flex" what so ever that may occur in any direction. See the pic for the design.
Old and new units. 4 are the "update kit" from the winter of 07/08 and 4 are 09 productions. On the 4 "new" ones, I ordered with ripples for leads, and with the 12.75 sweep back wheels. This summer put on the floating arm on the 09's to put the residue movers (a small discussion was had yesterday regarding calling residue... "trash".....LOL) up ahead of the lead coulter. Attempt on that was to provide better residue flow between the units to prevent the plugging between the units ( reduce the possibility of turning it into a "dump rake"). Joe already shakes his head at what we do up "here" to the setups.....he'd probably sit and cry looking at mine....LMAO. I had the 14" on the floaters and the 12.75's on the stems.... might have to reverse them not sure. Or maybe even go to all 12.75's.
I had redone the lift assist arms to get higher lift last year on the rear of my double bar setup in addition to lengthening them 10" to clear the second gauge wheel, and I didn't move them back (brain fart moment) for yesterday. I was limited on how far back I could lay the units on their heels (was a bit nose heavy). Even bringing the leads up to the top hole, I was still a bit off from level on the unit main beam. Just a matter of having the room needed to adjust for level running which I have.... just didn't have it adjusted for it and couldn't do it at the "drop of the hat".
