Aberdeen MS | The first pic he posted in the lead off post, show's me on my knees (straddling the row), local neighbor that is interested in making the switch along side of me.
Truth be known, i was secretly asking for divine intervention to hold the rain off.....LOL. Kidding a bit, but I was hoping it would....and it did. Got 2.1" in an hour and a half after 4 PM.
I was well pleased with the day's events. Highlight for myself was the pit, Jodi used up over 2 hours and every minute could have been stretched to 2 as far as I was concerned. The results showed me I and others here making the switch over are going in the right direction as far as the ground is concerned.
The results in the field with the 3 units running were as well interesting. Whenever either of the 3 units stripped into a combine wheel track, one just went...."Ick... that's gonna be tough if we stay dry. But then move over 2 rows and all 3 brands left a nice strip that would have been ready to plant into for the most part. All 3 of us basically hooked up....and put em into the field with no extended time to do any setting for the conditions. The Hiniker and Redball units made their first pass in the field in front of the crowd. That's what I was looking for for the demo, rough and raw, no sugar coating. The result was being able to show not how good a job can be done to impress, but show the difference between what is available in the market place and how certain conditions is detrimental to any brand. The results showed that in one single pass, one can give an A+ and a F basically to all 3 of the brands presented depending on what row you looked at.
I did spend about an hour setting up, but my setup had NEVER been in the field until yesterday. The row units had been, but it was the maiden run for the bar/unit combo so I spent an hour yesterday morning with the dewy conditions to get "close".
I didn't have the time being host to take any pics at all. Maybe all that did take pics can email me what you have, I'll put together a synopsis of the day and add it to my website. Hopefully Paul got some pics of the actual strips that were extremely "chunky" and I"ll take some tomorrow of the same conditions after the rain to compare.
The day was set up to learn, not show off anything at all. I know I did, and hopefully the other 16 or so people that made the trip did as well. On that premise, I have to say the day was a complete success. | |
